This project showcases how our team at Atlantes Landscapes transformed a tired, disjointed outdoor space into a luxury countryside retreat. Located in Devon, the design brings together traditional craftsmanship, wildlife-friendly planting, and contemporary landscaping solutions to create a garden that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
The transformation began with the removal and reshaping of old stone walls to open up the site. This allowed us to design a new gravel driveway, framed by elegant planting and stone steps that guide visitors to the upper garden. A winding gravel path leads to a Jura Beige limestone terrace, sheltered beneath a bespoke oak-framed pergola and enclosed by curved walls, lush planting, and a surrounding wildflower meadow.
At the heart of the design is a dramatic new water feature, composed of three interlinked ponds and natural waterfalls. Built carefully around existing trees and plants, this feature creates sound, movement, and a rich habitat for wildlife — while serving as a striking visual focal point.
A bespoke oak-framed garage with a tiled roof was constructed to complement the garden, providing parking and storage. The new driveway, finished with Nidagravel stabilisation trays and Marshalls Argent block paving, enhances both function and arrival experience. Throughout the garden, Collingwood lighting was discreetly installed to highlight pathways, stonework, and water features — controlled easily through smart technology.
To support long-term growth and sustainability, the garden was equipped with a rainwater harvesting system and professional irrigation network. The planting scheme offers year-round colour and texture, with species such as Magnolia grandiflora, Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’, lavender, and salvia, all framed by seasonal wildflower meadows.
The result is a stunning example of garden design in Devon — a space that blends natural beauty with thoughtful landscaping, creating a tranquil retreat for both people and wildlife.

At Atlantes Landscapes, we understand that creating a garden for a Grade II listed property in Devon requires a balance of beauty, functionality, and sensitivity to heritage. This project in Dawlish shows how thoughtful design transforms outdoor spaces into tranquil retreats that complement the character of the home.
Our team focuses on harmonising structure and planting, ensuring that every feature, from pergolas and waterfalls to wildflower meadows and seating areas, works together to create a cohesive and calming environment. By carefully selecting plants native to Devon, we not only enhance the garden’s aesthetic but also encourage biodiversity and pollinator-friendly habitats.
Through meticulous planning and expert construction, we deliver gardens that are both visually stunning and deeply personal, providing homeowners with spaces for relaxation, reflection, and enjoyment of their surroundings. This Dawlish garden exemplifies how bespoke landscaping can transform a property into a true sanctuary while respecting its historic charm.
